About the hospital
Updated 25 Jan 2016The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center is a main healthcare provider in Tel Aviv and its metropolitan outskirts. Operating three hospitals in its 150,000 square meter complex, the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center ranks third in the country’s largest hospitals. The three hospitals are: the Ichilov General Hospital and Ida Sourasky Rehabilitation Center, the Lis Maternity Hospital, and the Dana Children’s Hospital. The Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center serves as a teaching and research center as well, in affiliation with the Sackler Medical School and the Sheinborn Nursing School.
1,050 beds are fitted throughout the 3 hospitals, plus 60 different departments and institutes, and nearly 150 outpatient clinics. The medical center also operates the Institute for Special Medical Examinations (or the Malram, with some 30 clinics in operation), which offers treatments that are not usually covered by health insurance programs. 1,132 physicians are employed in the hospital, including 657 specialists, which are backed with over 1,700 nurses.
Aside from being a major medical care provider in the city, the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center serves as a national referral center as well for many different specialties including trauma, adult and pediatric neurosurgery, orthopedic and surgical oncology, various transplants, and others.
