Dr. Prabhakara Shetty Heggunje, MBBS, MD, DM, FACC

Dr. Shetty is a well trained, world class cardiologist with cardiology training from prestigious institutes in India and United States of America. He worked at Madras Medical Mission, chennai as a consultant cardiologies for 3 years before he went to USA. He completed interventional cardiology training at the internationally acclaimed William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan, USA. Durhing his undergraduate and postgraduate training years in both India and United States he ranked consistently within the top 5% of his class. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the fields of Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology.


With over 20 years of experience, and about 10,000 invasive cardiac procedures, he is a expert in most areas of cardiology. He has special interests in the management of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), and prevention of heart disease and stroke. He is an expert in carotid stenting with results superior to international standards. He also has a large experience in the management of peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Shetty has presented several papers in annual scientific meetings of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association and has publications in prestigious international Journals. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and American Medical Association.
